Stephen M. Butler, M.D., is a board-certified surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is in private practice with Dr. Jill M. Roehr. He has been affiliated with South Florida Baptist Hospital since 1992, is a past president of the hospital medical staff and has served on every major medical staff committee.
Dr. Butler practices general and vascular surgery with a special interest in laparoscopic surgery; hernia and aneurysm repairs; and colorectal, carotid, breast and thyroid surgery. In addition, he performs endoscopy, peripheral vascular surgery and sentinel lymph node evaluation for breast cancer. Dr. Butler is nationally recognized in hernia repairs and teaches physicians the latest techniques in hernia repair and endoscopic suturing for treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Dr. Butler completed his residency training in surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He received further training in his field through an endoscopy fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to moving to the Plant City area, Dr. Butler was in private practice in Missouri.
Dr. Butler supports numerous local charitable causes, including the Spring, the Rainbow Ball, South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation and St. Leo's College.
